Brookfield concerts, baking contests held Friday evenings
BROOKFIELD – This town’s cultural council
has begun its Friday night concerts on the common. The programs,
which will be presented weekly through July, include “The
Doctor’s Variety Hour” from 6:30 – 7 p.m. This
half-hour program invites anyone who wishes to perform to come to
the bandstand, where a sound system and an audience, says Council
Chairman Bill Simpson, will be in place.

Quaboag 350th Pow Wow set
for July 17, 18
BROOKFIELD – The Unity Tree pow wow, long
in planning and eagerly awaited, say David “Tallpine”
White and Ron Couture, will be held Saturday and Sunday, July 17
and 18, at the historic Crosby House, home of Kermit and Jeanne
Eaton, Route 9, Brookfield. That home and surrounding property are
a short distance from the original Quaboag Plantation atop Foster
Hill, where the Nipmuck Indians held siege to the families comprising
the original settlers.
