NEW BRAINTREE Š Glenn
MerkelÕs name is on the ballot for the one-year term left vacant by the
resignation of Selectman Magi Ziff, but her husband, Howard ZiffÕs resignation
as town moderator leaves that position vacant, and no takers have stepped
forward with nomination papers.
His other position, from
which he also resigned earlier this year, a three-year term on the board of
health, is being sought by Cynthia Cheever.
There are no contests in this
town; a one-year position on the planning board is up for grabs, with no
nominations.
Incumbent Selectman Martin
Goulet is running unopposed for another three year term.
Other incumbents seeking
returns to office are: Deborah Houston, assessor, 3 years; Janet Pierce, tax
collector, 3 years; Leslie Miller, finance committee, 3 years; Miller also
seeks another 3 years as cemetery commissioner; Mary Lefevre, library trustee,
3 years; Paul LaRoche, planning board, 5 years; James A. Brown, constable for 3
years. Kelly Hilcoff is seeking a 3 year library trustee position.
Annual town elections will be
held at the New Braintree Town Hall on Monday, May 3, from noon to 8 p.m.
