North Brookfield Savings Bank, Baystate Medical Center to sponsor blood drive

NORTH BROOKFIELD - North Brookfield Savings Bank has partnered with Baystate Medical Center to sponsor a blood drive on Thursday, March 13 from noon – 5 p.m. All blood donations will be taken inside the Baystate blood vehicle located in the parking lot at the Palmer branch, 1051 Thorndike St.

Raffle prizes, courtesy of North Brookfield Savings Bank, will be drawn for two Six Flags season passes for pre-registration and a portable grill for those who come to donate. Winners will be announced on Friday, May 14. One entry per donor per prize. Thank you gifts, courtesy of Baystate Medical Center, are going to be given to everyone who donates and if you bring a friend with you that has never been a blood donor for Baystate Health then you receive a Friendly’s gift card.

“You never know when you or somebody you love will be in need of blood,” said Erica Floyd, North Brookfield Savings Bank, Assistant Manager. “My nephew was born very sick and needed multiple blood transfusions to replenish what he lost in surgeries during his short three days that he spent with us. Without blood donors he wouldn’t have even had a chance to live. I am taking part in this blood drive to help others have a chance at life, just like donations from others helped my nephew have a chance.”

Blood is perishable and has a limited shelf life. There is always a need for donors of all blood types. Your donation of one pint of blood can help save up to three lives and every three seconds, someone in the United States needs blood.
