Massasoit
Art Guild displays painting of the month
NORTH
BROOKFIELD - Artist Carole Bentley of North Brookfield created this painting
entitled ÒGeraniums #2Ó. This 11 x 14 painting is done in oil paint on
stretched canvas. It is the second in a series of three paintings inspired by
photographs that Carole took while visiting Belfast, Maine. ÒIt was a bright,
sunny dayÓ Carole remembers. ÒI spotted these beautiful geraniums hanging in
front of the windows of a building, and I knew I had to paint them!Ó The
painting features colors of bright roses, reds and greens. The background is
done in large brushstrokes of blues and greens. CaroleÕs goal was to capture the
bright sunlight bouncing off of the blooms, contrasted with the deep cast
shadows.
This
painting and others like it may be seen at the Massasoit Art Guild Studio in
the former Lashaway Jr. High School, Hodgkins Building on School St. in East
Brookfield. The studio is open every Wednesday morning from 9:30 a.m. - noon,
and every second Saturday of the month from 1Ð4 p.m.
