Lake association to hold annual clean-up
WEST BROOKFIELD - The Lake Wickaboag Preservation Association is planning its 12th annual Lake Clean-up Day, from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 29 at the town beach. Refreshments will be provided for all lake clean-up volunteers.
Marc Pontbriand, chairman of the event, is encouraging local volunteers to aid LWPA members in cleaning up refuse in the lake and along the shoreline. As in previous years, the volunteer effort will also include the lake area along Wickaboag Valley Road to Snow Road and the rest area on Route 9 across from the lake.
There will also be an information table sponsored by LWPA, which will include lake publications and membership applications. Signed and numbered prints of a new painting of Lake Wickaboag in summer and sweatshirts, t-shirts and hats embroidered with the lake logo will be offered for sale. Some children-sized shirts are also available. A DVD highlighting Bill JankinŐs history of Lake Wickaboag and another DVD highlighting his history of West Brookfield will be available for sale.
LWPA members will be handing out postcards that include information about this summerŐs Fourth of July Waterfront Decoration Contest. All lakefront property owners are invited to join in the fun.
