Warren 350th
committee announces historical lecture, musical afternoon
WARREN - Noted Historian and
Author Jack Larkin will be the featured speaker at an afternoon of history,
music and refreshments in downtown Warren on June 13.
Music by local artists will
open an afternoon of down-home entertainment, according to committee member
Linda Cunningham.
LarkinÕs 2 p.m. lecture ÒThe Many Layers of
WarrenÕs Past,Ó will be delivered from the old town hall steps or, in case of
rain, in nearby Emmanuel church, Winthrop Terrace.
Larkin and his wife Barbara
are long time residents of Warren. He is the author of five books on early
American history, including ÒThe Reshaping of Everyday Life 1790-1840Ó, a
distinguished finalist for the P.E.N/Martha Albrand Award for Nonfiction in
1989.
He is Chief Historian and
Museum Scholar Emeritus at Old Sturbridge Village, Affiliate Professor of
History at Clark University and a consulting historian. He consults and
lectures widely for museums and historical organizations, including the Library
of Congress, the National Park Service and Illinois State Preservation Agency.
