EAST BROOKFIELD - Tyler Davis, a member of Boy Scout Troop #238, is planning a car wash. The proceeds from which will be used to fund his Eagle Scout community service project. The car wash will be held on June 19, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the building known locally as the Hodgkins building, located behind the fire station.
The young scout recently
approached the board of selectmen, seeking that boardÕs approval of his chosen
project, improvements to the landscaping around the municipal complex. The project
is to include improvements to existing plantings, general grounds keeping work,
and the addition of one or more benches to the area around the building, which
houses the library, police station, administrative offices and meeting rooms.
The board expressed approval of and appreciation for his effort.
Friends and fellow scouts
will assist with the car wash, and a bake sale will be a part of the dayÕs
activities, he said.
ÒWe hope a lot of people will
decide to come. There is no official charge for the car washing; we will ask
people to donate what they think excellent work by a hard working crew its
worth,Ó Tyler said.
He anticipates undertaking
the work at the municipal complex once school is out, he said, and will
continue until the job is complete. The community service project is one of
many requirements for earning an Eagle Scout award.
