Quirk Wire to hold first ever car show July 10

 

Proceeds to benefit American Cancer SocietyÕs Relay for Life

WEST BROOKFIELD Ð For the past six years, the employees of Quirk Wire Co., who call themselves the ÒWire NutsÓ have been working to raise donations for the American Cancer SocietyÕs Relay for Life.

The Wire Nuts hold fundraisers each year, from bake sales to golf tournaments to raise money for their cause. So far this year, they have raised $15,000, and the total amount raised for the past six years is almost $40,000.

The Wire Nuts will hold their first ever car show on the West Brookfield common on July 10, with the proceeds benefitting the Relay for Life.

ÒWe all know someone who has been affected by cancer,Ó said Mark Long, Event Coordinator for the car show. ÒWe have employees that are currently battling the disease and most of us have friends and family that we have lost to cancer. This is why we do this, to help.Ó

Registration for the event will take place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., with judging from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be a ÒTop 25 JudgeÕs ChoiceÓ and 50/50 raffle.

The registration fee is $15 per car.

Long said that so far, they have 200 Ð 300 cars registered for the event. He said the Lions Club will have a food booth, and a D.J will also be on site.

He said that they have over 20 sponsors for the event, including Palmer Paving, Brookfield Motors, EB Flatts, and Ye Olde Tavern.

Long said he hopes the car show will become an annual event.
